Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Business and Journal of Behavioral Economics (BJBE) are subject to a rigorous and impartial peer-review process to ensure the publication of high-quality academic work. Our process is designed to provide authors with constructive feedback while maintaining the integrity and standards of the journal.
We adhere to a double-blind peer-review policy. This means that the identities of both the authors and the reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. This anonymity ensures that each manuscript is judged solely on its scientific merit, originality, and relevance to the journal's scope.
All submissions are first screened for plagiarism using professional software before being sent for review.
The peer review process follows these steps:
-
Initial Screening: The editorial office first checks the submitted manuscript for compliance with the journal's scope, formatting guidelines, and basic quality standards. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors or rejected at this stage (desk reject).
-
Editor Assignment: Once a manuscript passes the initial screening, the Editor-in-Chief assigns it to an Associate Editor with relevant expertise in the subject area.
-
Invitation to Reviewers: The Associate Editor invites at least two independent experts in the field to review the manuscript.
-
Peer Review Stage: Reviewers assess the manuscript based on its originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, and significance of its contribution. They provide detailed comments and a recommendation to the Editor (Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject).
-
Editorial Decision: The Associate Editor evaluates the reviews and makes a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief, who then makes the final decision. The decision, along with the anonymized reviewers' comments, is communicated to the author.
-
Revision Stage: If the decision is "Minor Revisions" or "Major Revisions," the author is invited to revise the manuscript based on the reviewers' feedback and submit the revised version along with a point-by-point response to the comments.
-
Final Decision: The revised manuscript is evaluated by the editor and may be sent back to the original reviewers for a second round of review, especially in the case of major revisions. A final decision of "Accept" or "Reject" is then made.
-
Production: Upon acceptance, the manuscript proceeds to the copyediting, layout, and proofreading stages before being published online.
Process Flow: Submission → Initial Screening → Editor Assignment → Peer Review → Editorial Decision → Revision → Final Decision → Publication
Duration of the Process BJBE is committed to providing authors with a timely decision. The entire peer-review process, from submission to the final decision, is expected to take approximately 1-2 weeks.
